Sleeping Sperm Whales off the coast of the Azores, Portugal.
The last time I saw a Pigmy Sperm whale I was on my family’s old skiff and it was floating near Little Tybee surrounded by a pool of blood, but no visible wounds. We called the coast guard and kept our boat about 10 feet away from it for well over an hour. The surf was terrible that day so my dad decided to just keep an eye on it from the shore. We watched it float and hurl under the waves until it was too far to see. When the Coast Guard finally got there, no trace of blood was left and the whale was gone. Needless to say, no one swam that day, and furthermore, no one felt very comfortable at the lack of rapidity of our channel 16 radio help line, either.
so cool!!!
